Divalent cations, such as Mg²⁺, are required as a cofactor for DNA polymerases used in PCR. Thus, MgCl₂ concentration affects productivity and fidelity of the DNA polymerase. MgCl₂ also has an effect on primer binding to the target DNA. For convenience in optimizing your PCR conditions, choose GoTaq® product formats that include 5X GoTaq® Flexi Reaction Buffers, such as GoTaq® and GoTaq® G2 Flexi DNA Polymerases, GoTaq® and GoTaq® G2 Hot Start Polymerases and GoTaq® MDx DNA Polymerases.
